A gang leader looking for redemption and a desperate prostitute. During a murky manhunt, both seek to find their freedom again. Violence, as in a centrifuge, is a permanent catharsis. The moviemaker draws a perfectly tight stage play. In the projected shadows, his ellipses and geometry of space are reminiscent of Fritz Lang and Carol Reed. This film noir, uniquely beautiful and politically incorrect, is dizzying.
