The opening scene in The Long Song heralds a fast-paced, heroic and daring series. In a word, spectacular. Brilliantly produced, it was adapted from a novel by Andrea Levy, an English author born to Jamaican parents who passed away in February 2019. The series addresses issues of race, identity and power, and celebrates the outstanding courage of emancipated female slaves.
