Following the growing interest of film festivals and other virtual reality-related events, the Geneva Digital Market has this year organized an event in the form of a think tank, which gathers together several representatives from events that feature VR in their programs – all this with the aim of assessing together the possible synergies, ensuring the best possible distribution of European works, limiting the costs of facilities and providing new IT solutions.

Ulrich Schrauth, VRHAM! Virtual Reality & Arts Festival
Ulrich Schrauth is the initiator and Artistic Director of VRHAM! – Virtual Reality & Arts Festival in Hamburg as well as a creative director for various international projects in the field of digital media. He regularly features as a jury member, e.g. for Laval Virtual and VRE Fest Rome. Schrauth has also given lectures and presentations with a thematic focus on immersive arts at SXSW Festival Austin and the Cannes Film Festival, among others.

Christophe Salomon, Sunny Side of the Doc
Christophe Salomon has been a documentary producer for French and international channels for more than ten years. In 2017, he joined the Organizing Team of Sunny Side of the Doc, one of the largest documentary markets in the world, to develop digital activities and collaborations with French-speaking countries. That same year, he took part in the development of a new market segment focused on digital culture to foster dialogue and cooperation between cultural outreach venues, creative studios, innovative companies and audiovisual producers.

Rich Warren, Encounters Film Festival
Rich Warren is the Festival Director for Encounters, the UK's leading short film, animation and VR event. Based in Bristol, the festival prioritizes showcasing, supporting and developing new up-and-coming talent in moving images. Rich Warren holds an MFA in Curating and started at the festival in 2008. He has also worked as a talent scout for the NFTS and spent a year in Sydney supporting indigenous filmmakers.

Victoire Thévenin, VR Arles Festival
A Political Science graduate, Victoire Thévenin specialized in curating and distributing immersive works. After working for seven years as an international film seller at Visit Films in New York and then MK2 in Paris, Victoire Thévenin developed MK2 Films & VR and VR Play, two platforms dedicated to the international distribution of immersive experiences. She is a member of the CNC’s Digital Experiences Committee and joined Fisheye in 2019 as the Director of the VR Arles Festival.

Elena Malakhatka, VR_Sci Fest
Elena Malakhatka studied Sustainable Technologies in Stockholm and Documentary Filmmaking in Los Angeles. She has a great passion for combining technology with creative media. She is now undertaking PhD studies and working at the intersection of Behavioral Science, Data Science, and Architecture. In parallel to her research, she is the founder of VR_Sci Fest – Festival-as-research, which helps rethink how scientific ideas and results might be represented in new immersive ways.

Astrid Kahmke, Bavarian Film Centre
Astrid Kahmke is Creative Director of the Bavarian Film Center, Head of the European Creators' Lab for artistic and creative VR developers, and curator of Virtual Worlds, an international competition for narrative VR, b2b market and conference, which took place in Munich for the first time as part of the International Filmfest München in July 2019.

Emmanuel Cuénod, Geneva International Film Festival - GIFF
Executive and Artistic Director of the Geneva International Film Festival since 2013, Emmanuel Cuénod worked for ten years as a film critic and cultural writer for La Tribune de Genève while also working with various magazines and appearing on radio and TV for the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (RTS). He also held the position of editor-in-chief for Ciné Bulletin, Switzerland's journal of audiovisual media. Emmanuel Cuénod has also worked as producer for Geneva company Rita Productions before founding In Utero in 2012, an independent agency that promotes radical cinema. Fascinated with the way technology continuously influences screenwriting, he is also the joint founder of the Foundation for Digital Creation. In 2015, he was appointed to the Academic Board of HEAD – Genève by the Council of the State of Geneva. He is also Member of the Board of the Cinéforom Foundation.

Casper Andersen, CPH:DOX
Casper Andersen holds a Master’s Degree in Media Studies from the University of Aarhus specializing in new interactive media, digital communication and user participation. He has worked for film festivals in Copenhagen since 2010, first as a program coordinator then as a programmer at both CPH:DOX (Documentary Film Festival) and CPH PIX (Feature Film Festival). For the past two years he has been focusing on the interactive section at CPH:DOX.

Alain Gallez, Stereopsia
Alain Gallez holds a Master’s in Psychology from the Free University of Brussels. He soon began focusing on supporting and training innovative entrepreneurs. Gallez has worked for several organizations linked with the European Commission to promote innovation. In 1998 he created his own company to set up international and scientific conferences. In 2009 he launched and jointly managed Stereopsia – the World Immersion Forum which will hold its 11th event in December 2019.
