Mandela’s mentor, Walter Sisulu is a key figure of apartheid. Based on the sound archives of his trial, this VR animation movie, as if drawn with charcoal, recounts the violence of the establishment as well as the boldness and tenacity of those who brought it down.

Accused #2 is an animated documentary that enables us to relive the trial of Walter Sisulu, the unsung hero of the struggle against apartheid and mentor of Nelson Mandela. Based on the trial’s sound archives, the virtual reality movie masterfully reconstructs the atmosphere of the times and places the viewer in the front row of the courtroom, opposite Walter Sisulu, who calmly resists the cross-examination and the fearsome, racist and eager prosecutor who is determined, at all costs, to charge him with terrorism.
