While the male gaze has been a widely known and discussed concept for over a decade, the new immersive scene is gradually starting to explore this subject. The immersive arts – more than any other medium – must take viewpoint into account. Is immersive creation still conditioned by the male gaze or, conversely, does it offer a means of escaping from it?

Gaëlle is an award-winning writer, director and producer of feature films and immersive experiences. Selected for festivals such as Sundance, SXSW (Special Jury Recognition in 2022 for Hi)Story of a Painting: The Light in the Shadow) and the Venice Biennale, she is a member of BAFTA Connect, Directors UK Inspire promotion 2020, "Most Promising Creator" at Stereopsia 2021 and Berlinale Talent 2022.

She was co-editor-in-chief of Cinébulletin until 2022 and has created several podcasts, including Raffut for Le Temps. She is currently a freelance scriptwriter and producer with Climage.climage.ch

Mariana Cadenas Sangronis is a Venezuelan journalist and director living in Belgium. She previously worked as a video journalist and then field producer, assistant director and editor for the award-winning documentary "Women of the Venezuelan Chaos" (2017). Her first VR documentary "Draw for Change: We Exist, We Resist" had its world premiere at DOK Leipzig 2023 and is in the Official Selection at GIFF 2023.
