Bernard and Joan, an intellectual couple. Two children, a comfortable apartment in Brooklyn. Everything explodes one night when they decide to separate. “It’s a film with which I identify a lot. Its simplicity, its tone and atmosphere left a lasting impression on me.” Woodkid’s choice.
“The film just grabs you throughout and, in the end, it leaves you feeling weightless. I didn’t want people to have time between two emotions”. Noah Baumbach made this quasi-autobiographical film after writing The Life Aquatic for Wes Anderson. Shot in 24 days in S16 mm, the camera spins around in the Brooklyn of his childhood. 1986, parents are divorcing, their children are asked to take sides. Scores are settled in scathing dialogues. A funny and cruel opus which brought the filmmaker recognition.
