Mozambique, 1917. A young Portuguese soldier seeks adventure but ends up roaming in the heart of darkness, in Makua land. A tragic hero reminiscent of a drawing by Hugo Pratt or a verse by Rimbaud, the little soldier in Mosquito is a huge film character.

João Nuno Pinto, who lived in Mozambique and then Portugal, drew on his family history and took seven years to make this movie, a fierce criticism of colonialism. Mozambique, 1917, the Portuguese army has come to defend its colonies against the German threat. For the adventure and his homeland, a young soldier attempts to join his garrison. A coming-of-age journey in the mystical land of Makua, featuring a mesmerizing soundtrack by Justin Melland.
