“Every picture of Newton is a nude. […]. A staging that leads to a nude.” Beyond the scandals and polemics, Gero Von Boehm offers an intimate portrait of one of the most gossip-provoking photographers of the 20th century. Without silence or judgment. Fascinating.

“Any photographer who claims not to be a voyeur is an idiot or a liar.” Born in 1920, marked by the effervescence of Weimar, Newton fled Nazi Germany in 1938 and became a fashion photographer. His images were immediately identifiable, dense black and white, and impressive, emancipated women. The staging is slightly frightening and a little perverse yet filled with humor. Portrait of an iconic ‘agent provocateur’ through unpublished accounts.
