Winner of the Palme d’Or in 2018, Kore-eda caused a sensation in Venice this year with The Truth. In the meantime, he also co-produced Junichi, where the same strange young man comes across the lives of six women. This disarmingly beautiful series, where each episode is shown separately, will be screened at GIFF exclusively and in full.

A ghostly man comes across the path of six women. One woman, one story, one life per episode. An encounter with this man, however brief and unlikely, wipes away the existential emptiness of modern life for a few moments. This series is a first (joint) TV production by Hirokazu Kore-Eda, the great Japanese filmmaker and winner of the Palme d’Or in 2018. The author’s touch is clearly present: Junichi is simple, yet deep and moving.
