Cyberia takes place somewhere in a cold and distant East, between an endless imaginary realm and vast physical spaces. It features a westwards journey towards a promised future with no arrival and no return. There is no here or there, only a twilight zone between a departure point and a simulated destination where a performer and a CG avatar dance as one to the rhythms of an imaginary West, inside a maze with no escape. Maria Guta mainly looks into mechanisms of self-representation, constructing and curating alternate cyber-identities. Adrian Ganea’s practice ranges from designing scenography to programming CG simulations and composing videos.
